Have you ever had the feeling that you should be getting more out of life?

Do you ever feel exhausted, drained, or overworked?

Have your fitness and vitality taken a hit? Do you seem to be absolutely unable to regain your footing? Maybe you just feel like you’re treading water. All of this will wear you down over time. This is not what we had hoped for. Maybe you’ve always imagined your life to be different. All of us expected to make a lot of money in the future.

Many of us feel we should have considerably more energy than we do. And we see people in our environment who seem to have the things we want. We’ve all met people who are well-dressed, optimistic, and desirable. We’ve all met people who seem to have everything. So, why aren’t we allowed to have that? Why is it that life is so cruel to us?

If you’ve read some of the other guides so far, you’ll already know that this is where you’re going wrong.

It’s blaming both the conditions and other people. Right now, you have everything you need to live an extraordinary life. All that’s needed now is the right attitude to get started. I’ll tell you what’s even more probable. You’re always living an awesome life. You already have everything someone could possibly want… you probably don’t recognize it.

As we’ve seen in this series, your happiness and successes are entirely dependent on you. Furthermore, they are a product of your outlook and the way you see yourself and your life. They stem from a desire to go out and get the things you believe you are entitled to. And from learning how you’ll go about doing it. You’ll learn how to make some basic improvements in this final guide.

You’ll discover how to begin strengthening yourself in the face of adversity. You’ll come to appreciate what you already have. You’ll also learn to master your life so you can choose exactly what kind of person you want to be. That is exactly what you plan to accomplish.

What are your top priorities in life?

The first thing you can do is reevaluate some of your goals. Many of us lament the fact that we aren’t healthier, happier, or wealthier, so we never take action. That’s because, despite what we think, we don’t prioritize those facets of our lives. Let’s break down your current routine and see if we can figure out what’s wrong.

You’re telling me you want six-pack abs. You’re telling people that you want to be a good author or entrepreneur. You tell people how important your family is to you. So, there you have it. So, if that’s the case, those are the things you should be concentrating on the most, right?

Instead, you’ll probably discover that your way of life looks something like this:

Sleep: 6–8 Hours

Work: 8–10 Hours

Commuting: 0–2 Hours

Lunch Break: 30–60 Minutes

Everything else: +/- 5 Hours

And you have to fit waking up, getting ready for the day, washing dishes, doing laundry, and cooking into those roughly five hours. Now come back to me and ask why you don’t have the lifestyle you want. You say that your aspirations and dreams are your top priorities, but you don’t live your life in any way that represents that. This reminds me a lot of the current political crisis.

Our elected leaders always inform us how much money they have managed to save. They’ll explain how they’ve boosted the dollar’s value. They’ll brag about how they’re reducing the deficit. Is this, however, the best way to measure their success? What about far more relevant indicators such as quality of life? Or is it happiness?

In your own life, you’re doing the same thing. You put 90 percent of your commitment into your job and are absolutely drained at the end of the day. All else, of course, fails as a result.

What Happened to Get It This Way

Have you ever wondered how things came to be the way they are now?

Although the response may not be fun, it essentially boils down to fear and indoctrination. It’s fear, because we’re too much motivated by the fear of our partners failing us. Fear of debt is to blame. Fear of not being able to afford a down payment on a home. About being childless in our forties and having missed the ferry. This suggests that the stick rather than the carrot motivates you.

You’re more concerned about walking away from the things you don’t want than with getting closer to the things you do want. And the media, as well as the way we’re raised, don’t help matters. This is where the term “indoctrination” comes into play. I’m not a believer in conspiracies. I’m not here to warn you that this is a deliberate government change or something like that. Nonetheless, that is the way most of us were raised. We’ve been told that we’re born with some form of debt.

That we owe society this debt. That grit and determination is something to be proud of. Meanwhile, we are conditioned to want a number of items that are just out of control. Widescreen televisions, opulent homes, expensive-looking automobiles, and other items are among them. We strive for these goals because we are afraid of debt and because it is what society demands of us. But let me ask you a question: does work have any intrinsic value? Working for a good cause is, of course, a positive thing to do.

Working to help your family is also commendable. Those, on the other hand, who boast about having “never missed a day of work!” or who retire in their 80s and brag about the job they did stacking palettes. It’s impressive that they’re happy with themselves. It is, in reality. But here’s the sad part: the world would go on without them if they didn’t come in. And if it didn’t, the worst-case scenario is that someone would be late in receiving a palette.

In the meantime, wouldn’t it have been preferable if they had prioritized their health? What would have happened if they had spent more time with their family? What if they’d followed their passion and composed a beautiful piece of music? Work should be seen as a means to an end rather than an end in itself. Job is only worthwhile if the end result is valuable. Even so, it isn’t worth losing everything else in your life for.

Designing a Lifestyle

The easy mental change I’d like you to make here is that you’re not living to work, but working to live. I know it’s a cliche, but if you really follow the advice to its logical conclusion, you’ll end up with something resembling lifestyle design. Lifestyle design is a way of life that literally turns conventional conceptions of work on their heads and focuses on creating a lifestyle that you enjoy.

You determine what you want to do and who you want to be, and then you alter your career and other aspects of your life to accommodate that lifestyle. Many citizens would become urban nomads as a result of this. We no longer need to work from a stuffy office or travel long distances to get to work, thanks to modern technology. Instead, we can easily turn on the machine and operate from the comfort of our own homes.

This gives you a great deal of flexibility, allowing you to work from anywhere and at any time. Many citizens would seize this opportunity by traveling the world with just a laptop and operating from coffee shops. That is lifestyle design, and that is what it means to be a “digital nomad.” However, it may also refer to anything far more minor. It means taking a hard look at the promotion that comes with so much more responsibility and determining if it’s worth it.

Isn’t it easier to spend more time with your family while keeping your current job? Alternatively, you might accept the work but ask for one day off so that you can have the whole day to yourself. Alternatively, you might take on a part-time job to supplement your salary. Maybe you’ve come to the conclusion that the perfect way to pursue your interests is to work as a garbage collector, as you’ll be free by 2 p.m. Do you want additional funds? Then find yourself a smaller home!

It may also suggest that you decide to move to a location closer to work in order to reduce your commuting time. A shorter commute allows you to spend 30 minutes more per day on yourself. Perhaps you plan to hire a cleaner so that you can have a lovely house! You don’t have to follow the most obvious path through your life because there are so many variables here to play with. You don’t have to follow society’s predetermined course, and you don’t have to keep making it harder and harder for yourself.

More Modifications

One way to start doing what you want out of life is to choose to build your own lifestyle and regain power. However, there are a few others who can assist you with this. Knowing your worth, standing your ground, and letting go of fear is one cognitive change. Another behavioral shift is to agree that both time and resources are interchangeable. This last statement means that if you’re being paid more while still working longer hours, you’re not actually getting a pay raise.

Only if you were paying more for working the same hours would this be considered a pay raise. So, if you’re given a promotion up the corporate ladder but it allows you to work longer hours, the simple response is that you’ll take the pay increase. This is where understanding the value comes into play. Many of us, after all, are afraid to ask for more money or to raise our prices. We believe that if we do so, we will lose our jobs and become homeless. Again, let go of your anxiety. This does not occur.

You can afford to charge more if you have a good service to others or if you are a good employee.

Consider how much money they make because of you, and how much money they’d lose if you quit working for them.

You have the right to raise your rates. Not only that, but regardless of obligations, it is normal for salaries to increase. So, if you feel you need additional funds, don’t be afraid to request it. What if they say no? Then you start looking for a new job or new clients somewhere else.

Instead of asking for permission, ask for forgiveness.

In the end, you are only worth what you believe you are worth. If you put a too low price on your head, you will work extremely hard for no reward. Continue your quest. Also, continue to read. And one more thing: don’t put it off. Don’t wait for things to change. Don’t put it off until you’re retired. Since life throws you curveballs all the time and the stars never seem to align. The only way to improve your life is to begin right now. And don’t tell me you’re too old to be the person you’ve always wanted to be: you’re never too old to be the person you’ve always wanted to be.

So, if you’ve been putting off going on a trip because of uncertainty, opportunity, or concern that life won’t be there for you when you return, it’s time to reconsider your plans. Take command and leave right now. This is the only way you’ll ever be able to fly. Work will be waiting for you when you return. What happens if it isn’t? In the very least, you’ve accomplished something worthwhile and unforgettable. What could be more beneficial?

It All Begins With Everything

Hopefully, some of these pointers will assist you in getting more out of your life by simply adjusting your expectations and following your goals.

So, where should you begin?

With all, is the answer.

What I mean is that if you want to be healthier, happier, and live a better life in general, you must make drastic changes all at once. We’ve spoken about how the desire to improve your life begins in your head. But have you considered how your mind is affected?

The mind has a finite amount of resources to work with. I’ve asked a lot of you in these guides: to take more responsibility, to conquer your doubts, to exercise discipline, and to remain inspired. All of this necessitates the expenditure of electricity. And if you only have 5 hours to be productive outside of work, you’re going to fail. If you’re stressed out and worn out, you’ll have an even tougher time.

As a result, you’ll begin to concentrate more on yourself. You should look at how you can ensure you are charged and willing to get the best out of life as you begin to concentrate on your aspirations and the things that make you happy as you begin to focus on them. Simple things like having enough sleep, going outside in the sun every now and then, and probably taking vitamin supplements, are all good places to start.

Later on, it moves on to more serious topics, such as learning to meditate. Seeking one’s calling. Choosing the best people to be with. Every aspect of your health and lifestyle has an impact on how you feel and how much you can achieve. Start small and work your way up to the amount of energy you need. You can feel stuck by your circumstances right now, so look for that tiny crack of light.

That might mean taking a morning supplement to improve your energy levels. But if it provides you with enough motivation to consider introducing systems to keep your home cleaner and the mental room to begin questioning your work-life balance, it will all be worth it.

Last but not least

Finally, what are your thoughts? Learn to be grateful for what you have now. Since this is the most important element in achieving happiness. The reality is that if you keep fantasizing about the widescreen TV, you’ll never be able to break free from the hedonistic treadmill. You’ll remain in fight or flight mode and continue to drive and fight. It’s not much easier to be looking forward to a vacation. It’s not much easier to be looking forward to leaving your career.

Do it right now. Meanwhile, practice focusing on what is already perfect in your life. If you take a moment to smell the roses and adopt a “gratitude attitude,” you’ll find you’ve already achieved a lot. You’ll learn that you already have a lot of happy moments in your life. Live in the present.
